AUSTIN, Texas — During the 2015-2016 academic leasing season, Campus Advantage achieved remarkable occupancy, rental rate growth and returning resident ratios across the portfolios of student housing it manages. The company achieved a 96.1 percent occupancy rate among the Campus Advantage-controlled housing portfolio for the school year while delivering an average effective rental increase of 3.5 percent, 100 basis points higher than the 2014-2015 leasing season. The company’s third-party managed properties achieved a record 48 percent resident returning ratio. This year’s leasing numbers further set Campus Advantage apart within the student housing industry for consistently high performance and set a new standard for year over year numbers.
“Each year we set higher goals for ourselves which we’ve met or surpassed,” said Mike Peter, president and CEO of Campus Advantage. “We’ve been managing student housing since 2003 and have developed proven operations policies, procedures and processes that consistently work. We place a great deal of emphasis on our residents’ experiences through the Students First™ program and our integrated marketing strategies.”
The Students First™ program continues to add resources focused on resident success inside and outside of the classroom. In 2015, over 2,000 events have already been held at Campus Advantage communities, and highlights for 2015-2016 include a national voter education and registration initiative and continued improvement of the company’s career preparation and success services.
Campus Advantage was invited to partner with It’sOnUs™, the White House campaign to change the culture around sexual assault on college campuses. In 2015-2016, Campus Advantage will continue to support this important movement through online and on-site initiatives.
“Our properties have great reputations because the students enjoy living there,” he said. “That’s how we achieve high returning resident ratios. Our investment partners benefit from our efficiency and the effectiveness of our time-tested methods.”
Since the beginning of 2015, Campus Advantage has added nine properties and more than 4650 beds. The company anticipates additional growth of third party management assignments as well as acquisitions through joint venture in the fourth quarter.
